I´m playing backgammon for money on the Internet almost every day and I don't have the troubles you're mentioning.
I do have to be a bit careful about the sites where I play and the opponents. But I'm able to beat the rake and a little bit on top of it. It won't make me rich but it's nice to have a hobby that brings in money as well.
World class players like Stick or Mochy should even be able to make a lot more than I do.

Back to the subject of this post:
Maybe I overlooked it but I didn't find a possiblity to play for money on GammmonSite. If there would be and the opponents would not be all bots then I would definitely give the site a try.
