I agree it doesn't matter what I think, or what you think. But I think it does matter what, collectively, everyone thinks.

I'm certainly a clock proponent -- w/o a doubt in the group rounds, w/ std. settings. In the knockout rounds maybe with somewhat increased settings -- plus still the enhanced play dynamics of using a clock. Just because someone has all day to play a 21 point match doesn't mean they should take all day -- maybe 3m/15s or something like that.

If someone has travelled afar and washed out in the first weekend they then have all types of options -- change plans, play ongoing side events, do more of the tourist thing. Their call.

Appreciate the potential of someone skating or throwing in the towel with three losses, as an example. Maybe in registration it is made clear if you forfeit matches you are ineligible to play the following year.

I don't mind Swiss, has many of same features I suggest. Do you do it throughout?

Another idea I like, particularly in knockout types rounds, is a best of three matches to nine or eleven points rather than a single very long match. I think it would better test all aspects of the game than does a single longer match -- particularly if one player gets well ahead in a long match.
