"World Championship" -- Demographics (partial) and Ideas

If the top 32 or top 64 (plus others who consider themselves to belong to that club) want to get together and determine a world champion, that's great. But any type of seeding is going to discourage the weaker players; their already-negative equity would undoubtedly head south. Maybe not everyone would realize that or care, but enough would. I certainly would not make a major expenditure to participate in such a tournament (even if I do harbor delusions of grandeur).

And if there is seeding, why stop at 64 v. the rest of the world?

Finally, I wonder how many go to Monte Carlo in order to become the "World Champion" - a meaningless title if ever there was one. My guess is that many go for the action, the scene, etc.

How can anyone question the process of a random draw?
