In Response To: Rollout of 53P-21 at Gammon Save (Gregg Cattanach)

This GNU rollout shows a preference to slot at GS with 21 after an opening 61P. Note that slotting is correct at all scores. I'm not prepared to articulate the reasons, but I believe there are some fundamental differences between this play and the other pointing openings that favors 21$.

The score (after 0 games) is: WEISS 1, BLAU 2 (match to 3 points, Crawford game)

Move number 2: BLAU to play 21

I have XG rollouts for 31P-21 and 42P-21 at GS, but didn't even include slotting as a choice. So, I can't post them. it would probably be worth adding them just for comparison. I expect that slotting would not play well.

I would like to understand this much better than I do, but I believe that the reason 53P-21$ plays so well at GS is that it DOES try for an advanced anchor - indirectly. An advanced anchor often results after the slot is hit. This is less likely to develop after 31P and 42P since there is only one open point for an advanced anchor. Therefore slotting does not play as well.
