"I would like to understand this much better than I do, but I believe that the reason 53P-21$ plays so well at GS is that it DOES try for an advanced anchor - indirectly. An advanced anchor often results after the slot is hit. This is less likely to develop after 31P and 42P since there is only one open point for an advanced anchor. Therefore slotting does not play as well."

Nice analysis in any case. What you write is compact and to the point, and for me fits the I-could-have-thought-about-this-but-did-not category. Obviously a good argument when you think about it, but you have to think about it first! Thanks.
