According to some data by Michael Depreli, the bots seem to play these sorts of positions noticeably better if you force them to evaluate all possibilities rather than allowing them to filter out moves that low-ply evaluations consider to be "obviously bad." I assume that "3-ply forced" still doesn't exist as a rollout option, though.

The position in New Ideas that I thought was analogous was Position 100, but there are some important differences. Besides the score, Position 100 doesn't have a blot on the 1 point.
