I'll just bring em both in. I dont want to pay now, 14 immediate returns feels like its pretty damn close to the racing equity you have right now. Does it feel like you win 68% of the time with your racing lead alone? Or do you need to clip a checker to move you past that win rate?

Additionally as a bonus, you do need the opportunity to make your board as racey as your opponents, and playing both in will give you that opportunity.

Maybe someone can help me here - is there a relationship between the pay now/later question, the number of shots you are leaving, and the amount of race you have? If not, there damn well should be.
