on 52P, how do you differentiate 17/10 from 20/15 17/15?

Excellent question.

Answer: The 6pt convention applies to most letters (H is the main exception). The 6pt convention states that priority (i.e., the capital letter) is given to the play with the checker destination closest to the (player's own) 6pt.

In the position above, the 10pt is closer to the 6pt than the 15pt is. Hence,

17/10 is P
20/15 17/15 is p

[You can also get by with 0 (zero, the last digit of the 10pt) for the first play, and @ (anchor) for the second.]
