Are precision dice necessary??

I did a 1000 roll chi-square test in the late 70s with non-precision square dice. They came out as fair.
However, I would imagine that you were not attempting to achieve an unfair result. You weren't playing at dice mechanic trying to roll double six, for instance. Don't you think a cheater would find it hard to cheat with dice that have rounded corners and thus roll more readily?
I had a similar thought when I read the recent comment about a test of baffle-less tubes that produced a fair sample of rolls. Surely a reason to have baffles anyway is that they make it more difficult for the cheater than tube without baffles.
