Basketball free throws are pure skill. Nevertheless no one makes them 100% of the time, although most pros are highly likely to make a free throw on any given shot.

If you win the game because a highly skilled opponent missed a free throw at the end of the game, most people would say you were lucky to win the game without going into overtime.

If you win due to quasi-random variance in a contest of "pure skill", should that be considered luck or skill?
