Insightful comment about luck versus skill

By my definition, it feels lucky but it is actually skill.

The erroneous assumption that I think confuses people is the idea that everyone has a built-in skill level, and any time they perform under that skill level, that's a lucky break for the other guy. I don't agree with this. I think your skill level is a combination of your good days and your bad days, and if you miss a free throw or you blunder a rook in chess or whatever, it's still a facet of your overall skill.
