Of all the responses to my post, I think Paul hit the nail on the head. If the player is a consistent contributor to the game, and his opinion is not particularly valuable, he can get away with a lot of comments and abuses of the norms, but if he is one of the better players, he should know better and his comments and reactions truly can make a difference in the outcome of the games.
For example, when the box doubles, our rule is that the captain must act first. I really don't care if one of the poor players takes or drops out of turn, but if MCG were to take or drop out of turn that would definitely influence the other players and could cost me money, so that would be upsetting. (Fortunately, when MCG takes or drops no one can hear him anyway.)
