As for the concern about ABT point distributions, the concern is well founded. It would not be right to have a 64 player event that awards more ABT points to the winner than Michigan or Vegas would award to the winner of a full 96 player field.

Bottom line is that if events wish to participate in the ABT, they should not just be able to just do whatever they want. It is reasonable to have some minimal guidelines that all participating events conform to. As an extreme example, we can't have some 64 player event deciding that it should pay "winner take all" and let the players hedge if they want. That would give 64 ABT points to the winner along with the annual ABT title, and would make a total mockery of the ABT.
