41 uses the back checkers perfectly. Making the bar with 41 is a mediocre use of the offensive formation. It results in two stripped points and a distribution of builders for making points later that is not optimum. 41@ (anchor 24-20, 21-20) is best.
Students of the opening will also note that one of the advantages of making the bar point early is blocking 66, changing it from a joker to a poor roll. In this position, 66 is already blocked (dancing). The bar point has little effect on play this turn. This is a recurring theme.
In contrast, making the defensive anchor immediately diffuses several doublet jokers from the bar.
