It is possible to have a play that is cubeless less sound than another ranked cubefully above - and also if cubeless wins less games, less gammons, and loses more gammons. The reason is usually that you'd have a double out next turn that you want to protect, but there may also be other reasons (such as cube efficiency when deciding whether to aim for shot equity or race equity).

Here on of the things that clouds the issue is that I am not sure whether the bot handling of the cube is correct.
