41S-22

I think we have enough data here to be sure that the only candidates are to make the 4 pt and then either the 11 pt or 22 pt.

By the standards of what you're trying to accomplish in your 4-ply rollouts, yes. However, it is interesting to review what is written on this position in Modern Backgammon (Bill Robertie, 2001). [I've substituted in "Blue" and "White."]

As a response to an opening roll, 22 is usually played in one of two ways: either make the 4pt and 11pt (most constructive, most aggressive), or make the 4pt and 22pt (defensive). Making the 20pt is mostly just a blunder, an overly passive use of a great attacking roll.

When White has slotted the 9pt, Blue has another option: use the whole roll to hit. Here that would be my choice, though Blue's actual play [4pt + 22pt] is also quite strong.

The author's second paragraph suggests to me either confusion with 64S-22 or perhaps that a Jellyfish or Snowie-1 rollout supported hitting.

Current data shows hitting to be an error of .024 (Snowie, 20k) or .027 (GnuBG, 5k). The best play E (Each, 4pt + 22pt) beats N (Near, 4pt + 11pt) by .004 (31k) and .0095 (31k), bot respectively. 41S-22 has not yet been rolled out on XG 3-ply (to my knowledge), though it's on queue.

@ (anchor, 24/20(2)) is indeed a blunder, about -.07 for money. Nevertheless, @ is the best play at gammon save (as is often the case).
