In Response To: Insightful comment about luck versus skill (Marv Porten)

without reading all responses I miss one example

Someone might be the most skilled backgammon player in the world, always playing between 1 and 2 PR in long matches. He plays a 1.5 in a 25 games battle of a long live tournament match and lost to his 0.5-playing opponent, who used to play at expert-level.

As we talk about Backgammon the more luckier player won, but was it the more skilled player as well?

Or was he just lucky to achieve this short-time computer confirmed level of skill?
