It doesn't seem that 4/2 can be right when a gammon loss loses the match. The choice seems to be between bar/21 12/10 and bar/21 5/3. The advantage of 12/10 is that it reduces the number of shots (63 would hit anyway but 65 wouldn't) and prepares to safety that blot. The advantage of 5/3 is that it prepares to fill in the gap on the 2 point which could be dangerous later.
I think I will play bar/21 12/10 because an immediate hit is devastating, whereas there might not be a "later" time when the 2-point gap becomes a problem. Black is likely to have either run or crunched by then.
