I was involved with this group years ago when they were on the zone, and gave free lessons and participated in many tournaments and events. I ceased to be involved when Hank Youngerman (Redtop)became a leader and I became suspicious of his honesty and his leadership. Eventually, when Paul Weaver and I publicly exposed him as a cheater, there were members of gammonzone who resented me or thought that I was an ally of Hank's and was working with him, which of course was just the opposite from the truth.
That's my history with the group, but in recent years I have seen that the leadership (mentioned above) are really good, honest, hard-working people who do a lot to promote backgammon and I, for one, have no hard feelings towards those who confused me as a Redtop supporter when, in fact, I was instrumental in exposing him. I hope they have no hard feelings as well, and I occasionally go to their web site to play with old, good friends there including my very close friend, Ralph Byrns (gammonish), and Stand Goodell, who I am glad to see is active again.
They are a great group of people and I encourage all to cooperate with them and support them (and Redtop has no affiliation with them and hasn't for years).
