Is the Gremlin officially alive?

Yes, the Gremlin split is alive, in a Frankensteinian sort of way, though I'm quietly on the lookout for a more industrious niche for G.

G = Gremlin split
Y = Yoga split (poses: 1, 2; explanations: 3, 4, 5, 6)
M = Mayfair split (basic explanation here, diagram #29)

I listed the three letters in their reverse order of usage frequency only so that they spell the word "GYM" as a memory aid. GYM-nasts are good at splits.

All three letters describe a play with a portion occurring in each of the three main areas of the board:

(a) Outer board
(b) Far side
(c) Inner board

The location of the (duplicated) fourth portion of a doublet dictates the letter. If it's played (a) to or within the outer board, use G. If it's played (b) on the far side, use Y. If it's played (c) in the inner board, use M.

In the diagram below, Blue has a 22 to play:
155

2O ' ' '2X4X '2X ' ' '5O

 ' ' ' '2X4O '3O ' '1O5X

21$-64K-42>-31P-55R-54@-22172

The Snowie eval of this position is [M B1 Y14 G80]. If we otherwise ignore the competitive B play (Both, 22(2) 11(2)), the nacbrac means that M is best, Y is -.014 and G is -.080. The representation on Snowie's display, with Nactation characters added in the left margin, looks like this:

M = 24/22 13/11 6/4(2) ... -.301
Y = 24/22(2) 13/11 6/4 .... -.315 (-.014)
G = 24/22 13/11(2) 6/4 ... -.381 (-.080)
