Exciting Announcement

I have been told that the term "Phantom double hit" originated from a book by Marty Storer, but maybe he got it from someone else first...I don't know. But I think the reason it has this term is that if the opponent had a checker on the 5 and 1 you would have hit twice, and end up with your checkers slotted on the 5 and 1 just as you should if he didn't have those blots. The "phantom" is the checker that is missing from the bar that would have been on the 5 point.
It's an interesting concept, and I loved getting perspectives from Stick, David and MCG...three different ways of looking at the same problem and expressing their reasons to come up with the right play.
To me, that is one of the great benefits I have of being associated with the above and Perry and John O'Hagan...we are all learning from each other...not just learning what is the right play or decision, but how to express it in ways that our students benefit and can understand it. When I am explaining to one of my students how he can use MCV to predict what is most likely to happen on the next roll, I am basically repeating the words and concepts I was taught by Perry; when I talk about market losers, I am using John O'Hagan's theory of market losers which he taught me just a couple of months ago. Etc.
