Maybe you should get sick and tired of the widely noted multi-year decline in attendance. I'm sure all the candidates who aren't showing up will will be starting their own tournaments in the near future soon.

The OP says "not getting any novices". Perfect response: "Novices shall do what they're told".

If you think that the people who would pay that rake - often parents or spouses - aren't focusing on such disparities, then you've helped explain a failing business model.
