In Response To: Ruling in Madison (Chiva Tafazzoli)

WBA rules state that this is not legal.

(1) Was just at your site and didn't see such a rule. Perhaps I overlooked it?

(2)

(a) Player X rolls, fails to make a move, picks up the dice. Is his turn not over?

(b) Player X rolls, fails to make a move, hits the clock. Is his turn not over?

They lso state that regardless, fair-play should take precendence.

I'm not buying this. Chiva, you say allowing the player to make a move is "fair play." Somebody else says his turn is over (having made an illegal move), and that is "fair play." More pointedly, you and Patrick, both experienced tournament directors, would make different rulings and I don't think either of you is a supporter of unfair play. Let's have some better arguments, eh? Because neither side of this "fair play" argument persuades me.
