Sometimes I feel the explanations don't touch on some of the major aspects of the position at hand. Here for example the only argument for coming out with the four has been something along the lines of what Neil summed up, "getting the back men moving while he's on the roof and has little counterplay without great risks seems best" or something of that nature. When I looked at this position I thought to myself, well, look at the position below and figure out what I thought. That reasoning could be/should be included in the original problem I think.
