Eliminate entry fees to promote backgammon?

I run a local club in Switzerland (Geneva).

We do practice entry fee's (15%)+ annual cotisation fee; this allows me to offer membership cards, top quality Hector Saxe boards (a leader in Europe), clocks etc Communication tools...

few bonus such as a annual buffet.

or a Christmas tournament: every surplus in the club budget is used as added money to the winners.

each year we have increased the membership list

Some players who never heard of WBA,MC world championship.... 5 years ago now go regularely into major events.

This is how i think backgammon should be promoted not cutting entry fees but by giving quality and added value to the game.

poker competition, lack of popularity all that is may be true but it's not a fatality.
