I just realized what I said in the above post could be ambiguous, since you hitting the clock doesn't mean your opponent has even picked up the dice, never mind actually rolled. Even so, I think the benefit of the doubt must go to the opponent in such cases if he insists you did play legally. However, I'd make a mental note of anyone who said I'd played legally when I clearly hadn't, the dice were still down so that part of the story wasn't in dispute, and his version of what supposedly happened was so preposterous as to strain the credulity of any rational person, including himself presumably.
