Eliminate entry fees to promote backgammon?

Different players want different things - different match lengths, different entry fees, different registration fees, different tournament formats, different rakes, different side events, etc.
There are (A) players which are willing to pay 240 euros for registration fee in Monte Carlo (every year less and less of those, but never mind), players who don't mind "one loss and you're out of main event", etc.; and there are (B) players which don't care about maximizing equity, see backgammon as fun, don't calculate MET, would like to have many matches guaranteed, etc.Solution is not to offer "either A or B", solution is to have "both A and B".
From what I can see, tournaments for "A-type" players are having problems with decreasing attendances, but they refuse to make significant changes. And there is large population of "B-type" players which are getting louder every day, demanding that A-type tournaments change to their preference.
But, solution is not to merge A and B into one tournament type, because that way no one would be completely satisfied.
I like Phil Simborg's idea - to have both types of tournament at the same event - Open/Masters division for those "A-type" players, and other division(s) for "B-type" players.
IMHO
