Eliminate entry fees to promote backgammon?

In Response To: Eliminate entry fees to promote backgammon? (Leonardo Jerkovic)

Excellent idea, however "regional" championships would be more appropriate...some states might not have more than 5 tournament level players, and other states (like California) might need to have a northern Califoria and a Southern California Region. Regions would be determine by geography as well as number of players to make each region about equal.
