NEBC used to do it differently

...and maybe still do, I haven't been there lately. They had as many as five levels of side pools, but if you entered one of the big ones you didn't have to enter the smaller one(s) if you preferred not to. For example, if there were A=150, B=100, and C=50 pools and you handed the person in charge of pools(not the tournament's director) 150, you would have to specify whether you meant to be in A, or both B and C. If you wanted to be in all three you would have to pony up 300. You did get to know who was in the pool ahead of you, but once you were in, you were in--you couldn't duck out because after you got in, for some reason 10 or 12 experts immediately jumped in too >> I liked their system of giving you those choices.
