Clocks and Penalties

You stated that you are not a slow player and you play reasonably fast without a clock. If that is true, you will not have a problem playing with a clock. If you are a slow pip counter, and that causes you problems, then YOU SHOULD BE PENALIZED and your opponents deserve to be rewarded. After all, they took the time to learn how to count faster so that they don't hold up the game for you and others. Learning how to count faster as well as how to make decisions faster is part of the skill-factor of the game that the clock rewards.
However, EVEN IF YOU DON'T AGREE, you happen to be in a world where most of the other people involved, and the leaders and directors, prefer clocks. I won't list all of the reasons, and there are many, as that has been stated here many times, but if the majority and the organizers prefer it, even if you don't like it, you must learn to adjust.
(I don't happen to like that irritating doubling cube they use, but they make me play with it at the tournaments, so I do it.)
