Hedging & Side Pools

It is worth noting that declining a chance to hedge is similar to entering a side pool. They aren't quite the same of course. A side pool is a bet against a certain portion of the field; the strongest portion. Declining a chance to hedge is a bet against a particular opponent in a particular match. But, entering a side pool and declining a chance to hedge accomplish the same thing in that they both increase the reward for strong performances and increase the cost of weak performances.

Hedging and entering side pools is potentially conflicting.
