How about something like this (in the spirit of the Legal Moves Club) - as long as the TD doesn't object:

If my opponent and I agree, if either of us gets down to 2 minutes we will stop the clock. We will restart the clock when the next round is scheduled to start.

I recommend you to try playing 2-3 matches with clock and you will see there is no problem with running out of time.
