Might be Jackie Robinson. Began playing in the major leagues in 1947, inducted into the HOF in 1962.

Joe DiMaggio was inducted in 1955 and his major league career began in 1936 -- same year as the HOF was founded. Will have to check dates of official opening of the HOF and Joe D's first major league game.

Could also be Bob Feller who was inducted in 1962 and his major league career also began in 1936 -- so same priviso as with DiMaggio.

Seems to be one of those three players.
