Another critical matter is that this is only a Money game. I am willing to punt and lose only one point, rather than risk 2 points on a Money game. If this was a match, I would be more willing to fight for those precious match points.

Of course, I may be doubled with the soft play. I have already decided to punt and allow him to cash if that is his decision.

My play is more poker like than of pure backgammon strategy. I said from the very beginning that I am not sure that this is the best equity play. However, in real life there are times that you can allow your opponent to make a mistake. My play is not purely to avoid a difficult take decision, it is primarily to allow my opponent to misplay his cube and I perhaps roll a six to take advantage of my pip lead.

I am not willing to fight and lose more on this game. But, perhaps I can get lucky. It's only one point if I lose.
