Let's look at the top 40 all-time hit MLB hits leaders. The ones with a "+" are HOF-ers. Jeter at #36 is the ONLY active player in this list and he is sure to move way up the list by the time he is finished. And the only players on this list that are not already HOF-ers are those that are not eligible. There is nothing marginal about Jeter's stats qualifying him for the HOF. His stats put him in a place where EVERY eligible player without exception has made the HOF. While the hype may result from his team, I don't see what his qualifications has to do with the team he is playing for.
