And the point is?

No one would claim batters are never hit. Biggio typically batted first or second, crowded the plate, and wore protection to keep from having associated injuries. Was he ever awarded first when he wasn't hit? No doubt. Was he ever not awarded first when he was hit? No doubt. Did he ever audition for an Oscar when not hit and brag about his success later? I don't know, I'd be surprised. He had quite a bit of class.

I fail to see what the fact that he spent his entire career in Houston has to do with it.

Biggio was an all-star at three positions -- catcher, second base, and center field. He did whatever was asked of him to the benefit of the team. Rose was the same type of player -- I believe an all-star at four positions: first, second, third, and left. A true team player for both the Reds and the Phillies. Is the same true of Jeter? Can't really see Jeter moving to first, can you? or even third? I think most would agree A-Rod was a better defensive shortstop than Jeter -- certainly at the time A-Rod joined the Yankees. But we see who played shortstop and who played third.

I suggest were the playing locales reversed Biggio would have been a bigger star in New York than Jeter has been. Conversely, had Jeter spent his entire career in Houston he would be another Barry Larkin (and Larkin won a NL MVP).
