As bad as the Astros may be they do not share the NL Central cellar with the Cubs and the Pirates. They are 5 games ahead of the Cubs and a whopping 22 games ahead of the Pirates (easily the worst team in baseball despite the best efforts of Baltimore and Seattle). They are also ahead of the Brewers in the division.
Obviously, the most egregious offenders on PED's (including HGH) were Bonds (in a league of his own), McGuire, Sosa, Canseco, Giambi, and, probably, Clemens.
They all bulked up considerably, but no one else underwent the body metamorphosis of Bonds. From a slight built speedy type player to a gargantuan with a head the size of California (literally and figuratively). Everyone fills out a bit with age, but few heads increase by ten cap sizes in adulthood.
The "Killer B's" -- Biggio, Bagwell, and Berkman -- were a lot of fun to watch in their day. Too bad they never won more championships or even the Series. In the 2005 Series they were swept -- losing 4 games by a total of 6 runs -- by a clearly inferior Chisox team with the ultimate asshole as a manager.
I thought it terribly unfair of MLB to dictate the roof be open for the games at Minute Maid -- MLB never dictated the status of the roof during the season or the other playoff series. The Astros often took advantage of the noise of the home field crowd with the roof closed. MLB took that advantage away.
