Larkin, no doubt, should be in the HoF. He was an outstanding offensive and defensive shortstop and finsished near the top 10 in MVP voting many times, winning it once. If you gave me a choice between Larkin and Jeter for my team for a season, I would take Larkin in a flash. But, Jeter's durability is very important and he has been one of the most durable players ever. If you gave me a choice of taking either for their career it becomes a tougher choice, although I would still take Larkin, because I value defense at that position so much. If Larkin had played his career in New York, fugidaboutit, he would likely have been a first-ballot HoF'er and a sure thing to eventually make it.
