This is CLASSIC NFL decision making: Don't put the game on the line for one play. Prolong the game as much as possible and hope something good happens.

How is this any different from the numerous instances over the years on this forum where players, including world class players, admit to making technically incorrect cube decisions, i.e. usually holding back on a correct double or redouble, in order to avoid putting the "match on the line" with a high cube value?

Might Kubiak have also factored in that the Redskins had scored 0 points while his team ran off the 17 straight points to tie, that the Redskins special teams had already demonstrated their ineptness with the blocked 29-yard field goal attempt, and that the Redskins' already suspect offensive line was further depleted by an injury to one of their starting linemen, Trent Williams, that occurred late in the game?

And knowing that the Redskins have specialized in stealing defeat from the jaws of victory in the Dan Snyder era, maybe Kubiak wanted to find out whether the Dan Snyder karma or the Mike Shanahan karma would win out. He did the Redskins fans a favor.
