There is a quote in the information page. I wrote the contact about it:

“The idea for this new game is simple but profound, and transforms a game of chance into a perfect-information game. This means that each opponent knows the strategies of the other, as well as their own. Therefore this game becomes as rich and interesting as chess. It is an interesting innovation in backgammon.”

Your backgammon variation is interesting but another way to look at the above quote is that if chess were given a random element it would become as rich and interesting as backgammon.
