8 blots IS TOO MANY, but maybe once started you better keep going. Trying to consolidate does not look right for me. You still leave a lot of blots in a position where you are outboarded. Putting a second checker on the bar is the best defence. I would hit on my 4pt with a 4 since hitting on the 9pt leaves even more blots and since i do not want him to anchor, then 16/10 looks like best 6 available. It bring another builder into the range and keeps your opponent's home board points sloted for you to anchor should he roll 4 or 5. If your opponent doesnt roll a 4, a 5, or a double , then you in a good position to make homeboard points , to anchor or to continue the attack.
