Depending on the type of race in question and what information I need to know I will use this count, that count, or the other count. The Keith count is what I use for most normal looking medium to long races where all I need to know is the proper cube action for money. Once you have used it for a while you will start to pick up where it may have strengths or weaknesses. I can think of a couple of examples off the top of my head but don't have examples to go with them, if I get time I will create positions to demonstrate.

For pips v. rolls or other EPC needed positions I go with Trice. Finally, for those match play situations where you need to know an exact percentage because of a lopsided score, I would suggest Kleinman. There are also other nuggets of information floating around that you may pick up and they will one day surprise you and come in handy.

You should also have a good set of reference positions even for the bearoff.
