Timothy- TC: It makes sense that you should know the best 2nd, 4th, 6th, ... roll plays, but do you really need to know the best 3rd and 5th roll plays if you never play the bot's #1? Given that one's memory is limited, surely it makes sense to focus on mastering one's own repertoire rather than someone else's repertoire.
Stick's response speaks to some of the variations that occur. But your premise about mastery of 3rd roll responses, and even other roll responses depending on memory is too restrictive in another sense. Many of these responses can be solved by understanding 'concepts of play', and memory need not be used.
Stick- Rollouts should be done more extensively or at the least a tie should be designated for each play where stat. sig is not reached due to massive rollouts being required. As you know the USBGF is planning an important one of these and each rollout will reach stat. sig,for this contest.
