It seems clear to me that your cube turn was null and void. It is no different than someone who was not in the game at all walking over and doubling. It just never happened. It can't.

Since you were the bonehead that set this snowball of incompetence rolling down the hill, you should be the last one to profit.

If no agreement could be reached amongst the players and I was called in for binding arbitration, I would rule that your cube had remained at 1 for the entire game and that if the box was retained, you lose 1 point, and if the box was lost, you win 1 point.
