One of the joys of backgammon is that not all of the pleasure comes from winning. The fact that you outplayed Falafel is also a victory, even if you were dissatisfied with your one major oversight. Your illuminating columns on GV and your theoretical and social contributions to the backgammon world in general and the respect people have for you must give you satisfaction.

Not that you could not achieve the same respect in another endeavor, such as Beam pong.
