You are all donkeys. In some chouettes they have a marker to denote who is the box at all times. If you don't have this, I'd recommend using something, anything, so that on a glance you know who is who and which side you're on. In the Chicago chou for example they use a little red car that's placed where you could place a cube in the board.

The only fair solution I see for this clusterfuck is to wash the game.
