In Response To: Valid Argument Against Clocks (Matt Cohn-Geier)

Hurray! I finally played with a clock – in one 5 pt match at the weekly tournament last week. Since it was my first time we used 15 sec; 2.5 min/game. I played faster than normal since I kept thinking about the clock and had over 11 minutes remaining at the end of the match. I sort of was trying to see how little time I could use. I made one bad play because of the clock where I didn’t count the race and run when I should have. My opponent who’s played with clocks for a while now (it was his clock) took a minute or two on several moves as I joked that I would win on time but he still had 4 minutes left at the end of the match. It really waasn't too bad. Bill F. told me later that after the first few times you don’t even think about the clock. Hopefully I’ll get a few more clocked matches in before Towson. Once I get used to clocks maybe I'll even take up chess.
