Wrong, Barry. In my own experience I have had the fifth round of a Swiss format tournament in Indianapolis (beginning at 11:00 pm Saturday) last until 2:30 am Sunday (Riles vs. Rozans) with the next round beginning at 10:30 am on Sunday morning and I have had to stay up until 3:30 am in Cleveland to START the doubles finals -- Riles/Kostadinov vs. Garvey/Settles. I'm sure there are many other examples.

Unfortunate, doubtlessly. Unfair, doubtlessly. Avoidable, probably. But it happens.

Part of the solution is clocks. Part of the solution is not letting people play in multiple events -- masters, open, doubles, blitz, etc.

The Swiss format in Madison precludes a repeat of that experience. Cleveland, for various reasons -- including that delay and inefficiency in management, is no longer a consideration for my attendance.
