Pure play vs. skill related adjustments

In Response To: Pure play vs. skill related adjustments (Bob Koca)

I find, to some degree, it increasingly difficult to play an opponent as his/her skill level decreases -- obviously, there is a limiting factor as one approaches totally unskilled. The weaker the opponent, the more unpredictable; and, by ignorance or by desperation, the introduction of more risk into the game is likely -- sometimes, they get lucky (it is a dice game).

Thus, as the skill level of opponents decrease, my game often becomes more conservative -- recognizing that lengthening the match will emphasize the skill differential.

Even against the Giants, I feel I am competitive; I generally know what I can expect and how they will react in various situations. With weaker players that is not the case.
