Pure play vs. skill related adjustments

I think it is rare that you should adjust checker play based on the skill (or lack thereof) of your opponent. Adjusting cube play is a dangerous tactic because, if you do so assuming your opponent will make mistakes, it is very difficult to estimate just what kind of mistake a given mistaken-oriented player will make at any given time.
However, I absolutely do adjust my cube play when playing anyone I am convinced is a worse player than I am, or anyone who I am convinced is a better player. And the biggest adjustment I make is relative to the difficulty of the game going forward. If I am playing a worse player and I know he is likely to make many checker errors going forward, I am more likely to take a close drop and more likely to give a close give. If I am playing a top, world class player, I assume he is not likely to make many checker errors, and I assume that he will play the rest of the game out better than I, so I am more likely to drop a complicated game and take when it's a simpler game to play.
Now, chouette play is totally different...there I clearly make checker and cube plays that I know, from experience in playing the same people over and over, are more likely to gain equity.
